Award winning senior advocate Donna Clontz was honored with the 2018 Andrus Award by AARP Nevada October 11, in Reno.
Clontz accepted the award from AARP Nevada State President Mary Liveratti at the annual volunteer recognition event for outstanding service.
Clontz, an AARP Ambassador the past 10years, has served on the Reno Senior Citizen Advisory Committee the past 8 years as chairman, has volunteered on the Washoe County Senior Services Advisory Board for 5 years, and previously worked as a SHIP Medicare counselor.
In 2011, Clontz joined a team of nine other volunteers from her church and traveled to New Orleans where she worked to repair homes damaged during Hurricane Katrina.
Recently, she has been engaged in helping to establish the city of Reno as an AARP Age Friendly/ Livable Community. The designation, established in July, will drive planning and implementation efforts to further improve the community for all ages.
